Coconut oil skin and beauty benefits

beauty food | coconut oil

Coconut oil is a delicious skin food nourishing, hydrating and protecting skin from microbes and creating a soft, glowing look whilst helping to diminish lines. Harvested from palms, coconut oil is pressed from the meat of coconuts. In cooler climates (below 25 degrees Celsius) coconut oil solidifies but can be turned into a gorgeous glossy liquid by gently heating. Research has now shown that coconut oil is a healthy saturated fat that supports healthy body functions.
SKIN FOOD ACTIVES
Vitamin E, lauric acid, medium chain fatty acids, iron and copper.
COCONUT BEAUTY BENEFITS
Vitamin E present in coconut oil helps to moisturise and protect your hair and skin from everyday damage, while smoothing out any fine lines. Lauric acid works to diminish bacteria, cleansing your body. It can also be used topically as a moisturiser and illuminator for hair and skin. Test skin first, especially if using on your face.
HOW TO COOK
It is a fabulous oil to fry in due to its high heat stability meaning no skin-damaging free radicals are produced. Enrich a smoothie or substitute for butter when baking with chocolate or nuts.
TIPS & TRICKS
Coconut oil can be brought from your local supermarket and wholefood store. Look for the healthiest option - cold pressed, unrefined and/or †˜virgin’ coconut oil as no chemicals or high temperatures have been used during processing.
