In short: LÜK eye crayons are made with plant-derived emollients, organic coconut oil, organic carnauba wax, antioxidant vitamin E and oryzanol, and mineral pigments such as iron oxides, titanium dioxide and mica. They're 100% natural origin, calculated in accordance with ISO 16128, and formulated without fragrance, FD&C dyes, silicones or petroleum-derived ingredients.
We believe you should know exactly what you're putting on your skin, especially around your eyes. So here's every ingredient in our Luminous Eye Crayons, in plain English.
What "100% natural origin" means
ISO 16128 is an international standard that sets out how to calculate the natural origin content of cosmetic ingredients. It counts ingredients taken directly from nature, and ingredients derived from natural sources, such as plant oils that have been gently processed. We've calculated our eye crayons as 100% natural origin under this standard.
The base: oils, waxes and emollients
These give the crayon its creamy glide, blendability and comfortable feel.
| Ingredient | What it is | Why it's there |
|---|---|---|
| Octyldodecyl Stearoyl Stearate | A plant-derived emollient | Gives a smooth, cushiony glide |
| Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, organic | Oil pressed from coconut | Nourishes and adds creaminess |
| C10-18 Triglycerides | Plant-derived triglycerides | Softens the texture and helps it blend |
| Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, organic | Wax from the leaves of the Brazilian carnauba palm | Gives the crayon its structure |
| Tribehenin | A plant-derived wax-like ingredient | Adds body and helps hold the shape |
| Polyglyceryl-3 Diisostearate | A plant-derived emollient | Helps pigments spread evenly |
| Glyceryl Caprylate | A plant-derived skin conditioner | Keeps the texture soft and smooth |
| Silica | A natural mineral | Adds a soft, silky feel and controls slip |
The antioxidants
- Oryzanol is an antioxidant from rice bran oil.
- Tocopherol (vitamin E) is an antioxidant that also helps protect the natural oils in the formula.
The colour: mineral pigments
Our crayons get their colour and soft metallic finish from minerals, with no FD&C dyes or synthetic colourants.
- Mica is a mineral that creates shimmer. The mica in our crayons is sourced from the USA.
- Iron oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499) give reds, yellows and blacks, building the browns, taupes and greens.
- Titanium dioxide (CI 77891) is a white mineral that softens and brightens shades.
