Lipstick Crayons were inspired by our desire to produce more sustainable cosmetics that are vegan and jam-packed with all the nutrients to achieve the luscious lips we all want. We created a formula that is comfy, full coverage, creamy demi-matte with staying power that doesn't dry lips out.
These vegan, colour balm crayons are made of organic coconut oil and plant waxes + antioxidant-rich vitamin E and natural silica smooth, nourish and hydrate lips without caking or drying.
Our product packaging respects the planet with bio-innovative materials derived from renewable sources. The lid is made with certified 55% compostable bio-based lid materials that help to reduce CO2 emissions and the pencil is made from sustainably grown wood. Plant based. Cruelty Free. Healthy colour that cares for your lips and the environment! Speaking of healthy, here’s the nutrient active ingredients included in each crayon:
Coconut oil:
it's naturally anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and moisturising. It is composed primarily of nourishing fatty acids and is especially high in lauric acid and skin-soothing linoleic acid. Due to its nourishing fatty acid content, vitamins, and minerals, it’s a prime ingredient to soothe and soften the skin. Adding coconut oil to your lip care routine will help to heal them and maintain their softness.
Vitamin E:
a potent antioxidant that protects your lips and skin from everyday damage while helping to moisturise and smooth out fine lines.
Gamma Oryzanol:
a bioactive component of rice brand oil high in antioxidants to protect skin from free radicals, acts as a natural sun filter. Silica: for a soft-focus effect and silky smooth application by providing 'slip' when applying lipstick crayons.
WHY GO CLEAN?
According to the University of California, the average woman will apply lipstick 2-14 times over a 12-hour period and will ingest as much as 87 milligrams of product per day, which over a lifetime, can equate to over 2kg.
As regulations vary from country to country, the lipstick category is notoriously ungoverned which puts consumers at risk of potentially toxic ingredients such as lead and cadmium, which studies have linked to cancer, infertility, hormonal changes and skin sensitivities.
In addition, many traditional brands still formulate with petroleum and mineral oil by-products, which is not only detrimental to the environment, but in high does, can be fatal to domestic animals and wildlife.
In Australia alone, cosmetics account for 30% of injuries reported to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) and is responsible for over one-third of all documented lip irritations each year.
